Located in south Florida’s Broward County along the Atlantic coast, one of my favorite places to visit is Miramar. Being part of the Miami metropolitan area, it is fortunate to be surrounded by a community of nearly six million residents.
Back in the early ’50s, when the city was incorporated, the vision was to create an affordable place to live. This idea has held true, making Miramar an attractive option for many residents. Additionally, its strategic location offers an easy commute to both Miami and Fort Lauderdale, where numerous major employers are based.
As I explore this beloved city, I can’t help but appreciate the diverse range of neighborhoods that make up Miramar. Each neighborhood has its own unique charm and character, providing a sense of belonging to its residents. It’s wonderful to see how the city has flourished over the years.
Visiting Miramar also means having access to some of Florida’s most popular recreational areas. From stunning beaches to picturesque parks, there is never a shortage of outdoor activities. Whether it’s soaking up the sun, engaging in water sports, or simply enjoying a peaceful hike, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
To make the most of my time here, I have compiled a list of 15 incredible things to do in and around Miramar, Florida.
1. Flamingo Lakes Golf Course
During my visit to Miramar, Florida, I had the pleasure of discovering a hidden gem just off Interstate 75: Flamingo Lakes Golf Course. As an avid golfer, I was thrilled to find a challenging and picturesque par 71 course that many locals consider to be one of the area’s best-kept secrets.
Upon arriving at the course, I learned that it operates on a semi-private basis, meaning it’s open to the public. However, during peak hours when tee times are in high demand, members enjoy priority access. This arrangement ensures that both members and visitors can enjoy their golfing experience while maintaining a balance.
One aspect that pleasantly surprised me was the reasonable greens fees. Compared to other golf courses in Florida, Flamingo Lakes offered an affordable and accessible opportunity to tee off. The affordability didn’t compromise the quality of the course, though. In fact, I found myself immersed in beautifully manicured fairways and greens that rival those typically found on exclusive private courses. The attention to detail and maintenance truly impressed me.
For those looking to improve their golf game, Flamingo Lakes Golf Course offers lessons taught by experienced instructors. Whether you’re a beginner eager to learn the basics or a seasoned golfer looking to fine-tune your skills, the knowledgeable staff is there to help you reach your goals.
After a satisfying round of golf, I made my way to the on-site restaurant to satisfy my appetite. It was a delightful experience to indulge in a delicious meal while overlooking the course’s scenic surroundings. The restaurant provided a welcoming atmosphere and friendly service, making it the perfect spot to unwind and reflect on a great day on the greens.
To top it all off, Flamingo Lakes also boasts a well-stocked pro shop. I couldn’t resist browsing through the selection of golf equipment, apparel, and accessories. Whether I needed to upgrade my clubs or simply wanted to take home a souvenir, the pro shop had me covered.

It was as if I had stepped into a fantastical realm, where the boundaries of reality dissolved into a dreamscape. The enchanting glow cast an eerie yet mesmerizing light, making each hole a unique and thrilling challenge.
What truly impressed me about Monster Mini Golf was its dedication to creating an inclusive space for all ages. As families and groups of friends gathered, I observed the delight on the faces of the little ones as they eagerly lined up to take their shots. It was evident that this place had mastered the art of catering to the young at heart.
As I continued to explore, I discovered an array of additional attractions to indulge in. The arcade games beckoned with their flashing lights and nostalgic charm, tempting me to test my skills and compete for high scores. Laser tag battles raged on, accompanied by bursts of laughter and exhilaration. The maze, with its twists and turns, provided an opportunity to navigate through a labyrinth of excitement. And if that wasn’t enough, a bowling alley awaited those seeking a change of pace, inviting them to knock down pins and revel in friendly competition.
