North Las Vegas is rather dwarfed by the fact that it is located next to gambling powerhouse Las Vegas proper, and with that in mind many people miss the chance to come here.

This is a shame, as locals will tell you that North Las Vegas is less crowded and cheaper, but still as entertaining as its famous neighbor, and you can get great deals on hotels and packages here, without having to forgo any of the fun.

If you are travelling with youngsters then North Las Vegas is more family friendly than the main Las Vegas Strip, and there are a variety of parks and adventure areas here that children will love.

If you still want to gamble while you are in Nevada, then you will have a range of casinos to choose from as well as bars, restaurants, and even adrenalin filled fun such as helicopter rides.

If you’re in North Las Vegas then consider a trip with 702 Helicopters where you will be able to take to the skies and see Las Vegas from a completely different perspective.

The tours leave from North Las Vegas and fly over all the iconic sights of the Las Vegas Strip including the famous fountains at the Bellagio, the replica of the Eiffel Tower, the volcano at the Mirage, the Stratosphere ride, and plenty more.

You will be 500 feet above the city as you cruise around and get a bird’s eye view of the action.

Here you will find a large park that sprawls over 20 acres and has tennis and volleyball courts as well as a large lake.

The signature features of the park however are the dinosaur related attractions such as the Dino Dig Sandbox where youngsters can dig for dinosaur ‘fossils’. There is also a large triceratops skull here that is a landmark in the park and you can climb or pose for a photograph with.

There are also water play areas here as well as splash pads and a playground.

Texas Station is one of the most well known hotel and casinos in North Las Vegas and you will find modern decor here as well as a large casino that has a huge range of gaming options if you are in the mood to try your luck while you are in Las Vegas.

The hotel and casino also has live entertainment every night if you want to catch a show, and is conveniently located near to the Las Vegas Speedway.

4. City View Park

City View Park is one of the best loved parks in North Las Vegas and is known for its picturesque waterfall and stream that bisects the landscape.

The park is decorated with beautiful trees and other local flora and fauna and there are ducks and geese that are resident in the park and inhabit the ponds that are located here.

If you like fishing, then the ponds also provide fishing derbies during the year, so check to see what is on when you are in town.

If you want to take a quick trip through space, then this is certainly the place to come and you can use the telescopes here to look out and spot different bodies in the solar system, all of which will be explained to you by the friendly and knowledgeable staff.

The Municipal Golf Course in North Las Vegas is known for its nine hole course and is a great place to come if you are new to golfing and just want an easy and straightforward green to practice on.

Casual golfers can also enjoy the PAR 3 course here and the Municipal Golf Course is also known for being the first night-lighted course in the Southern Nevada area, so you can also play here at night if you fancy an evening game.

The course is also known among residents for being one of the most decorative in the entire area and there are gorgeous views over the neighboring valley.

9. Thai Buddhist Temple of Las Vegas

Here you will find a large and comprehensive flea market and there are a huge number of vendors here that sell local produce and antique items.

You will also find food and drink options here and this is a great place to grab a beer and watch the world go by.

At the weekends you will also find live music here so this is an ideal setting to enjoy some al fresco living in North Las Vegas.

11. Regional Trail System

The Regional Trail System in North Las Vegas is made up of phases and skirts for two miles along the Upper Las Vegas Wash Detention Basin.

Trail Phase I runs through North Las Vegas and if you like hiking then you will pass through gorgeous desert landscapes that will let you take in the best of the Nevada scenery.

There are amenities like drinking fountains dotted along the trail as well as sun shelters and an asphalt pathway that makes for easy hiking.

The course is known for its natural beauty and is dotted with pear trees and other picturesque local shrubs.

There are also Mondale pine trees and purple locust trees here, so if you want to get back to nature then this is the place to come as you improve your golf game at the same time.

Here you can join a range of programs that focus on gymnastics training, as well as some martial arts classes and other activities.

14. Las Vegas Motor Speedway

The area spans an amazing 1,200 acres and there are several tracks here which allow for multiple races.

If you are a music fan then the famous musical festival, the Electric Daisy Carnival is held here annually.
